Welcome! FAQ about the "Embrace" screening

Dear friends,
Welcome to what might be my 167st blog. I am a verbal processor, and I am a writer, so with every new inspiration comes a new URL.

I will write more later on my new role as a Body Image Movement Global Ambassador, how I got here, and where I hope to go...but for now I wanted to connect with you all on some frequently asked questions I'm getting about the "Embrace" screening coming up in June.

1) Is this documentary just on weight?
No, not at all. It addresses all areas of body image...height, shape, hair, skin...everything on the outside.

2) I saw a clip of Taryn Brumfit, the documentary's founder, talking about post-baby body image.  I'm not a mom, so is this going to feel exclusive?
No, not at all.  Taryn's discussion on a news segment talks a lot about body image after having children, but her documentary focuses on people of all walks of life, and is very inclusive.

3) Can I bring my daughter?
While this topic contains critical messages to communicate with your kiddos, I would recommend attending the screening without kiddos under the age of 15 (but you can use your judgement).  There are some scenes that include non-sexual nudity, and while it is a healthy part of the discussion, you may or may not find it appropriate for your kiddo to see certain images.  Come to the screening, and if you think your daughter would be fine with it, go ahead and watch it with them as well. It is on Netflix.

4) If it's on Netflix for free, why would I pay for a ticket to see it in the theater?
Excellent question.  This is a unique opportunity to gather and have a discussion- yep, we're having a big-'ol discussion right there in the theater after the film.  It's a powerful way to process what you've seen, exchange ideas, and, well, hang out with over 50 friends.

5) I'm not sure yet if I'll be available on Tues, June 19th at 7:30pm.  I hardly know what my schedule is tomorrow.
I get it.  I don't even know what I'm having for dinner.  But if you think there is even a chance for you to attend, please, please order a ticket NOW- our screening can only happen if there are at least 50 people that purchase tickets by June 1st. If it turns out you can't come, we'll try to find someone to purchase your ticket from you.

6) 7:30 on a Tuesday night?  Getting a little late, don't you think?
Yep, that's late for me too on a "school night." The company that the Body Image Movement pairs with, Gathr, gives you dates and times and theaters to choose from. They are all weeknights at 7:30.  Treat yourself to a late night out and plan for coffee on Wednesday.

7) Okay, I'm getting a little intrigued and inspired.  I will purchase a ticket.  Can I do something else to spread the word?
YES YES YES! I need lots of help to spread the word.  Share my FB statuses, share this blog, share the FB event (request an invitation)... If each person that reads this blog invites 5 people we will absolutely have a guaranteed screening.  Who do you know that likes documentaries, who gets inspired by social change, who needs a night out with a movie theater full of girlfriends?

8) Can I see a preview of the movie?
Yes! Click here https://youtu.be/HAEI3DWfd3k

9) When and how can I purchase my ticket?

Thank you all for your questions, your support, your enthusiasm.  So excited to see you in the theater.  PS- I will share my popcorn with you.
